Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu, resigned abruptly today, slamming the APC’s “move toward a one-party state.” His resignation letter cited “eroding democratic values” as opposition figures defect to the ruling party.

The move comes days after Lagos PDP spokesman Hakeem Amode joined the APC – part of a wave of defections Audu called “politically toxic.” Senate President Godswill Akpabio has yet to comment, but PDP leaders praised Audu’s “principled stand.”.

Resignations rarely sting like this. Audu just turned his exit memo into a manifesto – and threw gasoline on Nigeria’s democracy debate
