Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage found herself in handcuffs earlier today following a heated argument at upscale Lekki restaurant Savoy Bistro. The trouble started when staff refused to accept her foreign credit card and allegedly overcharged her bill by 200% – asking ₦150,000 for a meal that normally costs ₦50,000.
Eyewitnesses say Tiwa completely lost her cool when the manager insisted the payment system wasn’t faulty. Police were called and took the furious singer to the station, though she was released after paying a fine. Savoy Bistro later apologized, calling it a “system error” and offering her free meals.
This isn’t Tiwa’s first public meltdown this year – back in January she had a viral confrontation with an overzealous paparazzo in Victoria Island. Fans are split, with some praising her for standing up to poor service while others think celebrities should handle these situations more calmly.
